Insulation Applications
Newtex offers a wide range of lagging and insulation products made from Zetex and ZetexPlus fabric. These high temperature products are available untreated, treated, or coated. For strength and reinforcement, insulation and lagging products also are available with stainless steel wire woven into the fabric.
Lagging
- Rewetable Zetex fabrics are commonly used by Industry for asbestos encapsulation.
- European power plants use our Zetex fabric for electric turbines/insulation.
Insulation
Multi-layered insulation pads are used to protect piping and can save energy costs. Pads are typically designed for insulation of temperatures ranging between 300°F (149° C) to 800°F (427° C) range.
Typical insulation pads consist of:
- A face material next to the hot pipe, such as Zetex fabric
- A ½ in. or 1 in. fiberglass mat - Zetex/Newtex Glassmat
- An outside of protective silicone or Teflon* coated fabric
The most common uses for insulation are in manufacturing plants, shipbuilding, power plants, and refractories.
Tapes
- You will find ZetexPlus Tapes wrapped around the exhaust manifolds of NASCAR stock cars.
- US and Asian glass manufacturers use ZetexPlus Tapes and Pads to remove hot glass from molds.
Ropes & Tubing
- Norway's steel industry protects rubber hoses from molten steel with Zetex Silicone Tubing.
- Zetex ropes are used as door seals by top manufacturers of commercial stoves.
- ZetexPlus ropes are used as gaskets for foundry furnace doors.
