Aramid Fabrics & OPAN/Aramid Blends for Strong Apparel & Covers
Z-Tech aramid fabrics are core spun to combine the strength and abrasion resistance of an aramid fabric with the heat protection and thermal insulation of a fiberglass fabric. Aramid fabrics, commonly known by the popular brand names “Kevlar®” and “Twaron®”, are ideal for environments where extreme heat and sharp objects, like metal or glass, are both factors.
In addition to core spun aramid fabrics, we also manufacture OPAN/aramid fabric blends. OPAN fiber (Oxidized polyacrylonitrile fiber) is inherently fire resistant and commonly known by the brand name Pyron®. OPAN/aramid blends are often used to fabricate personal protective apparel because they are strong like core spun aramid fabrics but also more flexible and comfortable.
Aramid fabrics and OPAN/aramid blends are both available with Z-Flex Aluminization. Aluminized aramid fabrics are commonly used in proximity suits and other high temperature personal protective apparel.
Z-Tech aramid fabrics can withstand continuous operating temperatures up to 700°F (370°C) and peak temperatures up to 750°F (400°C).
