3M Nextel ceramic thread, roving, & yarn is suitable for the most demanding high temp applications
3M™ Nextel™ Sewing Thread, Roving, and Yarn are made from 3M™ Nextel™ Continuous Filament Ceramic Oxide Fibers, designed to meet the toughest thermal, mechanical and electrical performance requirements.
3M™ Nextel™ Sewing Thread is made from Nextel™ 440 fiber and contains rayon support fiber. Nextel™ sewing thread is resilient, abrasion resistant and has good sewing ability. Nextel™ Sewing Thread is often used for sewn, stitched and quilted items made with Nextel 440 woven fabric, sleeving and tape components, thermal shielding, or for sewing refractory parts and shapes.
3M™ Nextel™ Roving is a loose collection of Nextel™ filaments, sometimes known as “strand” or “tow”. Nextel™ Roving is made with Nextel™ 312, 440, 610, or 720 fibers. The 610 and 720 fibers are considered structural grade fibers, designed for load bearing applications and have a higher melting point than the 312 and 440 fibers.
3M™ Nextel™ Yarns are multi-strand twisted yarns made from 3M™ Nextel™ 312 or 440 continuous ceramic oxide fibers. Nextel™ Yarns are often used for Industrial high temperature insulation components, metal high temperature processing components, high temperature electrical braided insulation, thermocouple insulation, or thermal shielding for aerospace and industrial applications.
