High temperature aluminum foil fabrics for static heat shielding applications
Z-Flex® Aluminum Foil fabrics are an economical option for heat shielding applications. The foil backed fabrics reflect 95% of radiant energy, like Z-Flex® Multilayer Aluminized fabrics, but Z-Flex® Aluminum Foil fabrics are thicker, more rigid, and lower cost.
Aluminum foil fabrics are not especially durable and hold their shape once bent, so they are ideal for use in fixed applications like static heat shields, static heat wraps, and thermal insulation pads. They are not suitable for applications where the aluminum foil fabric will be subject to stretching, twisting, vibration, or other repetitive movements.
The high temperature foil can be applied to fiberglass cloth for applications where a thinner, more flexible fabric (8 mils) is desired or texturized fiberglass fabric for applications where a thicker, stiffer fabric (35 – 75 mils) is desired. Z-Flex® Aluminum Foil fabrics are available in full 50-yard rolls, but they can also be slit down and sold as aluminum foil tapes for heat wraps.
Z-Flex® Aluminum Foil fabrics offer radiant heat protection up to 3000°F / 1650°C. The aluminum foil laminate can withstand direct contact with high temperatures up to 1100°F / 595°C. Aluminum Foil fabrics also provide basic chemical and moisture resistance.
